Abortion!

For the fetus, though enclosed in the womb of its mother, is already a human being, and it is a monstrous crime to rob it of the life which it has not yet begun to enjoy. If it seems more horrible to kill a man in his own house than in a field, because a man’s house is his place of most secure refuge, it ought surely to be deemed more atrocious to destroy a fetus in the womb before it has come to light.

John Calvin
Commentary, Exodus 21:22.

The “leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees”

Let us remember, that we live in a world where Pharisaism and Sadduceeism are continually striving for the mastery in the Church of Christ. Some want to add to the Gospel, and some want to take away from it. Some would bury it, and some would pare it down to nothing. Some would stifle it by heaping on additions, and some would bleed it to death by subtraction from its truths. Both parties agree only in one respect. Both would kill and destroy the life of Christianity, if they succeeded in having their own way. Against both errors let us watch and pray, and stand upon our guard. Let us not add to the Gospel, to please the Roman Catholic Pharisee. Let us not subtract from the Gospel, to please the Neologian Sadducee. Let our principle be “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,” nothing added to it, and nothing taken away.

Psalm 84:10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
There are certain events that are so wonderful and memorable (or at time tragic) that we dedicate one day every year to remembering them. There are historical figures who are likewise deemed worthy of annual remembrance with a national holiday (individually or collectively). In our own homes we ‘memorialize’ certain great events–the anniversary of mom and dad and the birthdays of our children. But there is only one event in all of human history that has been deemed worthy of remembrance every single week. That event is the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. In honor of that event God has given His Son one day in seven to serve as a distinct memorial, separate and distinct from all other days. The Lord’s Day has been regarded in the past by such honored titles as the “Queen of Days” and the “Market Place of the Soul”. The average Christian in our day, however, seems to be more of the spirit expressed in Amos 8:5 “When will the New Moon be past, That we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, That we may trade wheat?”
Some years ago a man who had attended our church announced to me that he thought it was legalistic to have and to ‘require’ an evening service. I said to him, “Well, let me tell you what we will be doing Sunday night. We will gather together with the saints, who are the excellent one in the earth in whom is all my delight (Psalm 16:3). We will gather as living stones to form a spiritual temple in which the Spirit of God will come and inhabit. We will have the words of the living God read and expounded to our needy hearts. We will sing songs and hymns and spiritual songs. We will have our hearts and our minds lifted toward heaven and be reminded of that eternal Sabbath Day.”
I then asked a simple question, “Are your plans for the day better than that?” I am not saying that the Bible commands an evening worship service, but when one is available and those dynamics are in play–what is better?

J.L. Dagg quote

It should fill us with joy, that infinite wisdom guides the affairs of the world. Many of its events are shrouded in darkness and mystery, and inextricable confusion sometimes seems to reign. Often wickedness prevails, and God seems to have forgotten the creatures that he has made. Our own path through life is dark and devious, and beset with difficulties and dangers. How full of consolation is the doctrine, that infinite wisdom directs every event, brings order out of confusion, and light out of darkness, and, to those who love God, causes all things, whatever be their present aspect and apparent tendency, to work together for good.

God the Father...

God the Father...doesn't have a vagina, sorry William Young author of the Shack. Bowing down (or Submission to) Aunt Jamima (AKA Papa from the Shack) is idolatry which will send you to Hell.

For more than 6000 years of Christian Theology, God has chosen to describe Himself as a Male, not only that but the God-Man, God+flesh =Jesus Christ has a dong and as He grew as a Man, He still had a dong and when He was crucified for our sins he had a dong, and when He rose from the dead He didn't have a Ken-doll surgery, He still had a dong, and when He rose into Heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father for all Eternity - He still has a dong.

Repent of the idol you have created for yourself, William Young, repent for the Millions you are leading to Hell, repent for the sermon you gave blaming God's inerrant-inspiration for the blasphemous content of your book before its too late. Trust not in forming your own god (not of wood or gold but of anti-Biblical theology and culturally-sensitive philosophy) and holding that god up for all the world to admire. Trust alone (Sola) in Christ (Christus) and in His work alone for your Salvation.

For the most Vile & Torturous parts of Hell are not reserved for Fascist Dictators or Republican political pundits, its not for Child-rapists or KKK members, its not for Nazis and Marxists, its reserved for false teachers, those who lead God's people astray into false religions. And friend I earnestly fear for the fate of your soul.

But you're not dead yet and the "Good News" is Christ died for idol-crafting, idol-worshipers just like you.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn Son and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. (Luke 2:4-7 ESV)

sermon titles: updated

A question I often get from Christians is RB (that's Reformed Baptist) I've never been to a post-modern Satan-worshiping Emergent cohort, what kind of sermons can I expect?

Or a question I often get from Emergents is RB (that's Reformed Baptist) I've never been to a Biblically faithful, God-honoring, Gospel-focused Church, what kind of sermons can I expect?

@@@
So here are the answers according to both the Emergency Cohort and Calvary Baptist of Lenexa.

At the Emergency Cohort (AKA the Emmaus Way)- our current Sermon Series is a pop-psychology, philosophical deconstructionist, self-help group-therapy conversation based off the post-modern children's book The 3 little wolves and the big, bad pig. This will be very helpful in teaching you how to complain that all the problems in your life are someone else's fault.

Its funny, I listened to Pastor (AKA group-therepy conversation facilitator) Tim Conder (Pastor of Conversation & Care) who said that he would be willing to suffer himself for the gospel (however he defines that) but he didn't want his kids to believe the gospel too strongly as the gospel expects too much from you. He said he'd rather them grow up and get established first (like 40 yrs old) after college, after getting a good job/career going, maybe starting a family before they should really start believing the gospel. - Well I hope Tim Condor's kids make it to 40, before they're allowed to become Christians because if they die prior to God granting them Faith and Repentance - Hell is Hot and Forever is a Long Time. Feel free to find the Emergent Sermon-time group-therapy conversation for the 3 little wolves and the big bad pig for the Worst Sermon of all time.

Or email Tim direct at tim@emmausway.net for his thoughts on how being a moral, loving Hippy-wolf hugging an emotionally challenged angry pig is now the post-modern definition of the Gospel. Flower Power, people! Flower Power!

or at Calvary Baptist of Lenexa - our current Sermon Series is an expositional, verse-by-verse review of the OT book of Habakkuk. Which is great, because its God's explanation on why bad things happen to people who think they they are "good people". It answers relevant topics like what to do when it seems like God's not listening to your prayers, and why does God not do something about the evil in the World today?

example of Scripture twisting techniques

I often hear seeker-driven, purpose-driven Bible rapists
abusing the Word of God. So as an example of their Scripture-twisting
techniques which string out of context passages together to teach false doctrine.
I have provided this quick discernment post on how to recognize the mis-use
the Bible to teach non-biblical doctrines.

Satire Sermon Title- Don't be a tree-huger be a tree-hater, like God
Read Isaiah, 2 Kings, Galatians, Deuteronomy & Joshua - that's 5 times
more Biblical passages than a normal Rick Warren sermon.

So he [Elisha] went with them. And when they came to the Jordan,
they cut down trees.
(2 Kings 6:4)

See in the OT Elisha and the prophets hated trees and cut them down.

For the LORD of hosts has a day
against all that is proud and lofty,
        against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low;
against all the cedars of Lebanon,
        lofty and lifted up;
        and against all the oaks of Bashan;
(Isaiah 2:12-13)

See even God himself hates trees of all kinds not just Cedars but even Oaks and the Bible is full of His wrath against them; Do what God would do: Cut them, Cut them all, Cut them all down!

For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—
(Galatians 3:13)

You shall not defile your land that the LORD your God is giving you for an inheritance. Therefore, the body shall not remain all night hanging on the tree, ... for a hanged man is cursed by God.
(Deuteronomy 21:22-23)

And [God's Judgement on His enemy was done through] Joshua who hanged the king of Ai on a tree until evening. And at sunset Joshua commanded, and they took his body down from the tree and threw it at the entrance of the gate of the city and raised over it a great heap of stones, which stands there to this day.
(Joshua 8:29)

Not only does God hate trees but the OT and the NT teaches that He also hates everyone who plays in trees - so climbing trees and tree houses are Anathema!

Application:
If you really wanna piss off God, keep on sinning - climbing trees, running around trees, planting trees, and building tree-houses to play in.

Remember: Sin + trees = Eternal damnation!

Luther on Trusting God in the Bad Times

Why then should we fear if this God favours us? Why should we tremble at the anger of the whole world? If He is our dwelling place, shall we not be safe though the heavens should go to wrack? For we have a Lord greater than all the world. We have a Lord so mighty that at his word all things sprang into being. And yet we are so fainthearted that if the anger of a single prince or king, nay, even of a single neighbour, is to be borne, we tremble and droop in spirit. Yet in comparison with this King, all things beside in the whole world are but as the lightest dust which a slight breath moves from its place, and suffers not to be still. In this way this description of God is consolatory, and trembling spirits ought to look to this consolation in their temptations and dangers.

Gordon Clark on "Concerning Free Will"

Gordon Clark's excellent essay, "Concerning Free Will"-

One will soon learn that God is not so impotent as to have to sit back, after offering the gospel, and wait and see who will accept it.  It will be clear that the Holy Spirit operates on the will of man, changes his likes and dislikes, takes away his heart of stone and gives him a heart of flesh, in fact gives him faith.  God does not sit back and do nothing: He regenerates- He controls man's will.  Such is the gospel; the other view (free will) is not.  As the Psalmist said, "Blessed is the man whom thou choosest and causest to approach unto thee" (Ps.65:4).  God causes men to turn to Him.  No one else can.

Rick Warren & earning your salvation

I listened to the old sermon series 40 days of Love by Rick "Scripture-twisting" Warren and something he said both surprised and frustrated me. Rick made the act of loving God into a good work that earns your salvation. He said that Love compensates for my sins. Now in context, he wasn't talking about Christ's love for us which led Him to come down and die for our sins and live a righteous life for us. Instead Rick was saying that God will look down on you and see you're a sinner but He'll also look to see if you "love Him" and if you do love Him enough and love you're neighbors enough He will overlook your sins because hey, no one's perfect, and God doesn't really expect you to be perfect.

Don't confuse these passages as Gospel, they are not, they are the culmination of the Law
God the Son, Jesus said in Matthew 5:48
You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

And again in Matt 22: 34-40
But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question to test Him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

So what's the difference between Law passages and Gospel passages? The Law passages Condemn you before God - as in Oh, you're not perfect or you mean you didn't love God with you're whole heart/soul/mind every second of every day or love all 7 billion neighbors on the planet as much as you love yourself, well then enjoy an all expenses paid trip to the Eternal Lake of Fire.

Its the Gospel passages that speak of the work already being done by Christ for you not in your work you need to do for Him.

White house pastor (Rick Warren)

If your pastor gets an invite to the White House then don't think you're influencing the Government, it merely means the Government is now influencing your pastor. Stop, don't go, run the other way. Fidelity in the pulpit is Eternally more important than any influence you may have on the Culture/Society.

It used to be...

It used to be that Mankind had a God-shaped hole in their souls and they needed Him, but in American Evangelicalism today its God who has the Man-shaped hole in His heart and He's desperate to get us....(could I get a chapter and verse, in context, for that America?)

informing the un-informed- our friends the LCMS

I am ever so ashamed that the leaders of the SBC are not this passionate or faithful to Christianity:

Transcript of LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison’s Feb. 16 Testimony before House Committee on Government and Oversight regarding Obama forcing religious organizations into providing HHS health care that includes the "next-day pill," its like having a whole abortion clinic right in your own medicine drawer.

“Mr. Chairman, it’s a pleasure to be here. The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is a body of some 6,200 congregations and 2.3 million members across the U.S. We don’t distribute voters’ lists. We don’t have a Washington office. We are studiously non-‐partisan, so much so that we’re often criticized for being quietistic.

“I’d rather not be here, frankly. Our task is to proclaim, in the words of the blessed apostle St. John, the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanses us from all our sin. And we care for the needy. We haven’t the slightest intent to Christianize the government. Martin Luther famously quipped one time, ‘I’d rather have a smart Turk (FYI that's a Muslim) than a stupid Christian governing me.’

“We confess that there are two realms, the church and the state. They shouldn’t be mixed – the church is governed by the Word of God, the state by natural law and reason, the Constitution. We have 1,000 grade schools and high schools, 1,300 early childhood centers, 10 colleges and universities. We are a machine which produces good citizens for this country, and at tremendous personal cost.
“We have the nation’s only historic black Lutheran college in Concordia, Selma. Many of our people [who are alive today] walked with Dr. King 50 years ago on the march from Selma to Montgomery. We put up the first million dollars and have continued to provide finance for the Nehemiah Project in New York as it has continued over the years, to provide home ownership for thousands of families, many of them headed by single women. Our agency in New Orleans, Camp Restore, rebuilt over 4,000 homes after Katrina, through the blood, sweat and tears of our volunteers. Our Lutheran Malaria Initiative, barely begun, has touched the lives of 1.6 million people in East Africa, especially those affected by disease, women and children. And this is just the tip, the very tip, of the charitable iceberg.

“I’m here to express our deepest distress over the HHS provisions. We are religiously opposed to supporting abortion-‐causing drugs. That is, in part, why we maintain our own health plan. While we are grandfathered under the very narrow provisions of the HHS policy, we are deeply concerned that our consciences may soon be martyred by a few strokes on the keyboard as this administration moves us all into a single-‐payer ... system. Our direct experience in the Hosanna-‐Tabor case with one of our congregations gives us no comfort that this administration will be concerned to guard our free-‐exercise rights.

“We self-‐insure 50,000 people. We do it well. Our workers make an average of $43,000 a year, 17,000 teachers make much less, on average. Our health plan was preparing to take significant cost-‐saving measures, to be passed on to our workers, just as this health-‐care legislation was passed. We elected not to make those changes, incur great cost, lest we fall out of the narrow provisions required under the grandfather clause. While we are opposed in principle, not to all forms of birth control, but only abortion-‐causing drugs, we stand with our friends in the Catholic Church and all others, Christians and non-‐Christians, under the free exercise and conscience provisions of the U.S. Constitution.

“Religious people determine what violates their consciences, not the federal government. The conscience is a sacred thing. Our church exists because overzealous governments in northern Europe made decisions which trampled the religious convictions of our forebearers. I have ancestors who served in the Revolutionary War. I have ancestors who were on the Lewis and Clark expedition. I have ancestors who served in the War of 1812, who fought for the North in the Civil War – my 88-‐year-‐old father-‐in-‐law has recounted to me, in tears many times, the horrors of the Battle of the Bulge. In fact, Bud Day, the most highly decorated veteran alive, is a member of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

“We fought for a free conscience in this country, and we won’t give it up without a fight. To paraphrase Martin Luther, the heart and conscience has room only for God, not for God and the federal government. The bed is too narrow, the blanket is too short. We must obey God rather than men, and we will. Please get the federal government, Mr. Chairman, out of our consciences. Thank you.”

  you.”
  you.”

martin luther quote

"God doesn't need your good works, but your neighbor does."

Application - So go serve your neighbor instead and remember,

The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him. (Acts 17:24-27 ESV)

tullian tchividjian quote

A Christian trust's in God's good work for them not in their own good works for God.

B P Hasty quote

"There was once Modernity (and Fundamentalists) . Then came post-modernity (with their Emergence).

But since I am post-post-modernity I don't just have a meaningful dialogue with people I don't agree with but still embrace; instead I continually argue with American Church-going heretics because I actually do care if they spend Eternity being tortured in Hell, as they deserve."

Repent, and only Cling to (or Trust in) the Gospel, trying to obey the Law cannot and will not Save you.

Remember what God said if you are trying to be Saved by Righteous Living,
You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48 ESV)

For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. (Romans 3:20 ESV)

For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith. For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void. For the law brings [noting but] wrath, (Romans 4:13-15 ESV)

But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.
What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead.

I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me. For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me. (Romans 7:6-11 ESV)

However I do believe in Christians and Apostates."

THE LAST JUDGMENT 1689

God has appointed a day wherein he will judge the world in righteousness, by Jesus Christ; to whom all power and judgment is given of the Father; in which day, not only the apostate angels shall be judged, but likewise all persons that have lived upon the earth shall appear before the tribunal of Christ, to give an account of their thoughts, words, and deeds, and to receive according to what they have done in the body, whether good or evil.

THE STATE OF MAN AFTER DEATH, AND OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD 1689

The bodies of men after death return to dust, and see corruption; but their souls, which neither die nor sleep, having an immortal subsistence, immediately return to God who gave them. The souls of the righteous being then made perfect in holiness, are received into paradise, where they are with Christ, and behold the face of God in light and glory, waiting for the full redemption of their bodies; and the souls of the wicked are cast into hell; where they remain in torment and utter darkness, reserved to the judgment of the great day; besides these two places, for souls separated from their bodies, the Scripture acknowledgeth none.

THE LORD’S SUPPER 1689

The supper of the Lord Jesus was instituted by him the same night wherein he was betrayed, to be observed in his churches, unto the end of the world, for the perpetual remembrance, and showing to all the world the sacrifice of himself in his death, confirmation of the faith of believers in all the benefits thereof, their spiritual nourishment, and growth in him, their further engagement in, and to all duties which they owe to him; and to be a bond and pledge of their communion with him, and with each other.

BAPTISM 1689

Baptism is an ordinance of the New Testament, ordained by Jesus Christ, to be unto the party baptized, a sign of his fellowship with him, in his death and resurrection; of his being engrafted into him; of remission of sins; and of giving up into God, through Jesus Christ, to live and walk in newness of life.

BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER 1689

Baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances of positive and sovereign institution, appointed by the Lord Jesus, the only lawgiver, to be continued in his church to the end of the world.

THE COMMUNION OF THE SAINTS 1689

All saints that are united to Jesus Christ, their head, by his Spirit, and faith, although they are not made thereby one person with him, have fellowship in his graces, sufferings, death, resurrection, and glory;  and, being united to one another in love, they have communion in each others gifts and graces, and are obliged to the performance of such duties, public and private, in an orderly way, as do conduce to their mutual good, both in the inward and outward man.

THE CHURCH 1689

The catholic or universal church, which (with respect to the internal work of the Spirit and truth of grace) may be called invisible, consists of the whole number of the elect, that have been, are, or shall be gathered into one, under Christ, the head thereof; and is the spouse, the body, the fulness of him that fills all in all.

MARRIAGE 1689

Marriage is to be between one man and one woman; neither is it lawful for any man to have more than one wife, nor for any woman to have more than one husband at the same time.

THE CIVIL MAGISTRATE 1689

God, the supreme Lord and King of all the world, has ordained civil magistrates to be under him, over the people, for his own glory and the public good; and to this end has armed them with the power of the sword, for defence and encouragement of them that do good, and for the punishment of evil doers.

LAWFUL OATHS AND VOWS 1689

A lawful oath is a part of religious worship, wherein the person swearing in truth, righteousness, and judgment, solemnly calls God to witness what he swears, and to judge him according to the truth or falseness thereof.

RELIGIOUS WORSHIP AND THE SABBATH DAY 1689

The light of nature shows that there is a God, who has lordship and sovereignty over all; is just, good and does good to all; and is therefore to be feared, loved, praised, called upon, trusted in, and served, with all the heart and all the soul, and with all the might. But the acceptable way of worshipping the true God, is instituted by himself, and so limited by his own revealed will, that he may not be worshipped according to the imagination and devices of men, nor the suggestions of Satan, under any visible representations, or any other way not prescribed in the Holy Scriptures.

CHRISTIAN LIBERTY AND LIBERTY OF CONSCIENCE 1689

The liberty which Christ has purchased for believers under the gospel, consists in their freedom from the guilt of sin, the condemning wrath of God, the severity and curse of the law, and in their being delivered from this present evil world, bondage to Satan, and dominion of sin, from the evil of afflictions, the fear and sting of death, the victory of the grave, and everlasting damnation: as also in their free access to God, and their yielding obedience unto Him, not out of slavish fear, but a child-like love and willing mind. All which were common also to believers under the law for the substance of them; but under the New Testament the liberty of Christians is further enlarged, in their freedom from the yoke of a ceremonial law, to which the Jewish church was subjected, and in greater boldness of access to the throne of grace, and in fuller communications of the free Spirit of God, than believers under the law did ordinarily partake of.

THE GOSPEL AND OF THE EXTENT OF THE GRACE THEREOF 1689

The covenant of works being broken by sin, and made unprofitable unto life, God was pleased to give forth the promise of Christ, the seed of the woman, as the means of calling the elect, and begetting in them faith and repentance; in this promise the gospel, as to the substance of it, was revealed, and [is] therein effectual for the conversion and salvation of sinners.

THE LAW OF GOD 1689

God gave to Adam a law of universal obedience written in his heart, and a particular precept of not eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil; by which he bound him and all his posterity to personal, entire, exact, and perpetual obedience; promised life upon the fulfilling, and threatened death upon the breach of it, and endued him with power and ability to keep it.

THE ASSURANCE OF GRACE AND SALVATION 1689

Although temporary believers and other unregenerate men, may vainly deceive themselves with false hopes and carnal presumptions of being in the favor of God and in a state of salvation, which hope of theirs shall perish; yet such as truly believe in the Lord Jesus, and love him in sincerity, endeavouring to walk in all good conscience before him, may in this life be certainly assured that they are in the state of grace, and may rejoice in the hope of the glory of God, which hope shall never make them ashamed.

THE PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS 1689

Those whom God has accepted in the beloved, effectually called and sanctified by his Spirit, and given the precious faith of his elect unto, can neither totally nor finally fall from the state of grace, but shall certainly persevere therein to the end, and be eternally saved, seeing the gifts and callings of God are without repentance, from which source he still begets and nourishes in them faith, repentance, love, joy, hope, and all the graces of the Spirit unto immortality; and though many storms and floods arise and beat against them, yet they shall never be able to take them off that foundation and rock which by faith they are fastened upon; notwithstanding, through unbelief and the temptations of Satan, the sensible sight of the light and love of God may for a time be clouded and obscured from them, yet he is still the same, and they shall be sure to be kept by the power of God unto salvation, where they shall enjoy their purchased possession, they being engraved upon the palm of his hands, and their names having been written in the book of life from all eternity

GOOD WORKS 1689

Good works are only such as God has commanded in his Holy Word, and not such as without the warrant thereof are devised by men out of blind zeal, or upon any pretense of good intentions

REPENTANCE UNTO LIFE AND SALVATION 1689

Such of the elect that are converted at riper years, having sometime lived in the state of nature, and therein served divers pleasures, God in their effectual calling gives them repentance to life.

SAVING FAITH 1689

The grace of faith, whereby the elect are enabled to believe to the saving of their souls, is the work of the Spirit of Christ in their hearts, and is ordinarily wrought by the ministry of the Word; by which also, and by the administration of baptism and the Lord's supper, prayer, and other means appointed of God, it is increased and strengthened.

SANCTIFICATION 1689

They who are united to Christ, effectually called, and regenerated, having a new heart and a new spirit created in them through the virtue of Christ's death and resurrection, are also farther sanctified, really and personally, through the same virtue, by his Word and Spirit dwelling in them; the dominion of the whole body of sin is destroyed, and the several lusts of it are more and more weakened and mortified, and they more and more quickened and strengthened in all saving graces, to the practice of all true holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

ADOPTION 1689

All those that are justified, God conferred, in and for the sake of his only Son Jesus Christ, to make partakers of the grace of adoption, by which they are taken into the number, and enjoy the liberties and privileges of the children of God, have his name put on them, receive the spirit of adoption, have access to the throne of grace with boldness, are enabled to cry Abba, Father, are pitied, protected, provided for, and chastened by him as by a Father, yet never cast off, but sealed to the day of redemption, and inherit the promises as heirs of everlasting salvation.

JUSTIFICATION 1689

Those whom God effectually calls, he also freely justifies, not by infusing righteousness into them, but by pardoning their sins, and by accounting and accepting their persons as righteous; not for anything wrought in them, or done by them, but for Christ's sake alone; not by imputing faith itself, the act of believing, or any other evangelical obedience to them, as their righteousness; but by imputing Christ's active obedience unto the whole law, and passive obedience in his death for their whole and sole righteousness by faith, which faith they have not of themselves; it is the gift of God.

EFFECTUAL CALLING 1689

Those whom God hath predestinated unto life, He is pleased in His appointed, and accepted time, effectually to call, by His Word and Spirit, out of that state of sin and death in which they are by nature, to grace and salvation by Jesus Christ; enlightening their minds spiritually and savingly to understand the things of God; taking away their heart of stone, and giving to them a heart of flesh; renewing their wills, and by His almighty power determining them to that which is good, and effectually drawing them to Jesus Christ; yet so as they come most freely, being made willing by His grace.

FREE WILL 1689

God has endued the will of man with that natural liberty and power of acting upon choice, that it is neither forced, nor by any necessity of nature determined to do good or evil.

CHRIST THE MEDIATOR 1689

It pleased God, in His eternal purpose, to choose and ordain the Lord Jesus, His only begotten Son, according to the covenant made between them both, to be the mediator between God and man; the prophet, priest, and king; head and savior of the church, the heir of all things, and judge of the world; unto whom He did from all eternity give a people to be His seed and to be by Him in time redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified.

GOD’S COVENANT 1689

The distance between God and the creature is so great, that although reasonable creatures do owe obedience to Him as their creator, yet they could never have attained the reward of life but by some voluntary condescension on God's part, which He hath been pleased to express by way of covenant.

THE FALL OF MAN, OF SIN, AND OF THE PUNISHMENT THEREOF 1689

Although God created man upright and perfect, and gave him a righteous law, which had been unto life had he kept it, and threatened death upon the breach thereof, yet he did not long abide in this honor;  Satan using the subtlety of the serpent to subdue Eve, then by her seducing Adam, who, without any compulsion, did willfully transgress the law of their creation, and the command given to them, in eating the forbidden fruit, which God was pleased, according to His wise and holy counsel to permit, having purposed to order it to His own glory.

DIVINE PROVIDENCE 1689

God the good Creator of all things, in His infinite power and wisdom does uphold, direct, dispose, and govern all creatures and things, from the greatest even to the least, by His most wise and holy providence, to the end for the which they were created, according unto His infallible foreknowledge, and the free and immutable counsel of His own will; to the praise of the glory of His wisdom, power, justice, infinite goodness, and mercy.

CREATION 1689

In the beginning it pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for the manifestation of the glory of His eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, to create or make the world, and all things therein, whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days, and all very good.

GOD’S DECREE 1689

God hath decreed in himself, from all eternity, by the most wise and holy counsel of His own will, freely and unchangeably, all things, whatsoever comes to pass; yet so as thereby is God neither the author of sin nor hath fellowship with any therein; nor is violence offered to the will of the creature, nor yet is the liberty or contingency of second causes taken away, but rather established; in which appears His wisdom in disposing all things, and power and faithfulness in accomplishing His decree.

GOD AND OF THE HOLY TRINITY 1689

The Lord our God is but one only living and true God; whose subsistence is in and of Himself, infinite in being and perfection; whose essence cannot be comprehended by any but Himself; a most pure spirit, invisible, without body, parts, or passions, who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; who is immutable, immense, eternal, incomprehensible, almighty, every way infinite, most holy, most wise, most free, most absolute; working all things according to the counsel of His own immutable and most righteous will, for His own glory; most loving, gracious, merciful, long-suffering, abundant in goodness and truth, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin; the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him, and withal most just and terrible in His judgments, hating all sin, and who will by no means clear the guilty.

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES 1689

The Holy Scripture is the only sufficient, certain, and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith, and obedience, although the light of nature, and the works of creation and providence do so far manifest the goodness, wisdom, and power of God, as to leave men inexcusable; yet they are not sufficient to give that knowledge of God and His will which is necessary unto salvation. Therefore it pleased the Lord at sundry times and in diversified manners to reveal Himself, and to declare (that) His will unto His church; and afterward for the better preserving and propagating of the truth, and for the more sure establishment and comfort of the church against the corruption of the flesh, and the malice of Satan, and of the world, to commit the same wholly unto writing; which makes the Holy Scriptures to be most necessary, those former ways of God's revealing His will unto His people being now completed.

Brave = Cowards

This post refers to the Elephant in the Room 2 conference, AKA the Heretic in the Room, or ER2

This is how James MacDonald and Mark Driscoll are Cowards pretending to be Brave.

James and Mark pretended to be Brave by standing up to Historic Orthodox Christianity (which they both claim to be a part of) which says that Sabellian Modalists, who deny the Trinity, are Heretics. They did this by finding one of the most outspoken leaders of Sabellian Modalist tripe in the US, false teacher Bishop TD Jakes, and paraded him onstage and pronouncing him as a brother in the Genuine Faith. Far from pushing the Bishop with hard, clarifying questions and calling him to Repent of his decades of false teachings (that have led to who knows how many souls going to hell?) and beging him to adopt the clear and precise historic Creeds and Confessions of Christianity that were painstakingly hammered out during the rampant heresies of the Early Church. They chose to soft-peddle Jakes and make themselves look Ecumenical while inviting a Wolf into the Sheepfold to dine on the Souls of the Biblically illiterate.

But what was funny to hear (or not-hear in this case) was the cause for me to call them Cowards in that they have both in prior sermons preached that the Word-Faith, Name-it-and-claim-it, Blab-it-and-grab-it, Prosperity gospel is a heresy! Yes, both James MacDonald and Mark Driscoll think the Prosperity gospel is a heresy, yet both thought that it was of such little importance (and would have ruined the Inclusivist mission they were on) so they both decided not to even bring up the subject to a man who has given the genuine Gospel a black eye for much if not most of his preaching career. And still fills the airwaves with Sabellian Modalist language like "modes" or "manifestations" and continues quite a successful career fleecing God's flock with his Prosperity garbage.

I thank God (the Christian one - Yahweh, not the Sabellian Modalist god who is an idol) that James MacDonald has resigned from the Gospel Coalition I can only hope that he uses the time to search his soul and Scripture about the mandate he has as a pastor to teach and defend sound doctrine. But he's probably too busy becoming a "mover and shaker" now in the seeker-driven, purpose-driven Gospel-less-ness of American Evangelicalism.

@@@
Please listen to, yep, James MacDonald explaining the Heresy of Prosperity:
“…  And pastors with these massive, massive homes. And preaching a “Prosperity Gospel” where Jesus wants you wealthy.  It’s sickening!  That is a distortion of the Gospel that was unheard of through the entire history of the church, but in the last 50 years, it is front and center stage in the Western World.  You go try to preach that in the Third World.  Those little people will laugh you right off the stage.  What are you talking about?  Only here, where we have no tolerance for truth and embrace the messages that bless our hearts  …  We’re gonna get to this passage in a few moments.  It says right at the end of Second Timothy:  ‘Preach the word in season and out of season.  The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled they will accumulate teachers for themselves and will turn their ears away from the truth and will be turned aside to myths.'   We’re in that time, people.”
So in the not-so-distant past, we have Pastor James MacDonald on public record suggesting that the “Prosperity Gospel” is a “false gospel” that is “unheard of through the entire history of the church.”  He is openly mocking pastors with expensive watches, cars and homes and declares that it’s “sickening!”

What happened James, popularity too appealing to continue fighting for the faith?

Prosperity Theology: The Dirty Little Secret By Mark Driscoll

I have expressed here before my hatred for the prosperity gospel, it is another gospel and by extension a damnable heresy. Mark Driscoll does a great job explaining what it is and its problems.

Prosperity Theology/Idolatry

While in Africa recently, I was often asked about prosperity theology/idolatry. This erroneous teaching states that the truly holy and faithful will be blessed with financial prosperity. The epicenter of this error is American greed, materialism, and consumerism, and the proclivity of some to present Jesus as the one who gives us our idol of Mammon/Money. To make matters worse, this theological error is promoted around the world on “Christian” television and radio. The effects in the US are damaging, and that damage continues around the world, particularly plaguing poorer nations where uneducated pastors sit on gold thrones wearing white suits and promise a hundredfold return on investment to their impoverished flock because it is what they learned from American preachers.
In Africa when I repeatedly answered the question about prosperity theology/idolatry, I explained it both practically and theologically. In this blog post I will deal with the practical and in the follow-up post I will deal with the theological.

A Marketing Scam

Practically, prosperity theology/idolatry is a marketing scam. My undergrad degree is in communications from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University, which is one of the top programs in the country. In my advertising, journalism, speech, marketing, and public relations classes, we were repeatedly taught that advertisers pay for media (e.g., air time on television and radio) and that unless a host or program is able to attract and retain a valuable audience for advertisers, they simply cannot remain in business.

The Dirty Little Secret

However, one of the first things I learned many years ago while co-hosting a small national Christian radio show was that there was one exception—namely, Christian programming. You see—and here’s the dirty little secret—most programming on Christian radio and television is nothing more than infomercials. Many of the shows are not kept on the air because they attract an audience that advertisers will pay for. Instead, the air time is purchased by the “ministry,” who can then use that time to say whatever foolish thing they want without needing to satisfy advertisers’ requirements for quality programming.

How to Make Jesus an Idol-Giver

The question is, how can you pay for the expensive airtime when advertisers won’t pay for the typical slots around the “Christian” programming? The answer is prosperity theology/idolatry. To pay for the airtime for infomercials, “ministry” leaders need to find a way for people to send in generous tax-deductible donations. The problem is that most people don’t give generously unless they really get the fact of the gospel—that our God is so generous that he gave us his own life—or they are given a theology in which Jesus is an idol-giver. So, prosperity theology was born for, in large part, the express purpose of paying for poor quality “Christian” programming and generating massive amounts of revenue to keep programming on the air that would not otherwise merit a time slot. Simply stated, it’s a business racket where you have to promise people God will bless them, or guilt grandmas into writing big checks by promising that Jesus is a pagan god who can be made to live for our glory if we manipulate him through faith and giving.
Of course, there are exceptions. Some fine Bible-based, Jesus-loving, gospel-centered ministries do exist on television and radio that do not promote prosperity theology/idolatry and actually teach against it by being faithful to the Bible. Just a few examples that come to mind are Greg Laurie, Hank Hanegraff, R. C. Sproul, and Kay Arthur. Nonetheless, now you know the dirty little secret about prosperity theology/idolatry.

What happened Mark, popularity too appealing to continue fighting for the faith?

another Bill Scheer-ism

See if you can find the Prosperity False-gospel Heresy in this message:

God's trying to get everything that's His into your life, your life should be seamless from this life to the next (referring to heaven), Jesus in the Lord's prayer said Father, your kingdom come, your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven meaning your should be living Heaven here on earth now, that's the will of God for you, the will of God is the greatest life known to Mankind for you. God's will is that your life is the envy of everyone out there.
God's will is that your life is so extravagant, so luxurious that the nations take notice and call you blessed.

Here comes the health, wealth and happiness

You can't say you don't feel good because being sick is dishonest speech for a christian

You can't be in debit because Christ's victory swallows up our debt

If the doctor diagnoses you with a disease so what the Bible is your prognosis - your healed. God promised to satisfy us with long life so don't be satisfied with only 70 or 80 years.

false teacher quote

from the sermon You University non-Pastor Bill Scheer at Guts not-a-church said:

Now many of you were raised [being told] that we're all sinners, even if you've given your life to God. Well I'm telling you, I'm not a sinner. You'll say, hey Scheer, are you a sinner? I'll say no and I'll tell you simply how I know I"m not a sinner, the Bible says God doesn't hear the sinner and I'm telling you God hears me and you know what He does, He responds to my requests. He sits up on that throne and takes notice when I put a demand on His will.

Who is god in Bill Scheer's religion, Bill is. And god is just his lackey...yes sir, Mr. Scheer, I'm on my throne and I'm ready to do your bidding.

1 John 1:8-10 - Listen to the Apostle John, inspired by God the Holy Spirit:

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Romans 7: 15-24 Listen to the Apostle Paul, inspired by God the Holy Spirit writing in the present tense about his life as a believer (not the past tense about his former life):

For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Matt Chandler quote from American Monkeys sermon

Quote in reference to American Evangelical error is using OT figures as "moral heroes" as apposed to sinners redeemed by grace:

"There's only 4 people from the Bible that I'd let babysit my kids - Jesus and the 3 guys from the fiery furnace, everyone else is suspect. They don't pass the background test."

Pimps, prostitutes, murderers, thieves, adulterers, zealots (or terrorists), even tax collectors (IRS agents)... no one is righteous, no not even one.

St. Augustine on idolatry

“Idolatry is worshipping anything that ought to be used, or using anything that is meant to be worshipped.”

spurgeon on kids in the church

“I will say broadly that I have more confidence in the spiritual life of the children that I have received in to this church than I have in the spiritual condition of the adults thus received. I will go even further than that, and say that I have usually found a clearer knowledge of the gospel and a warmer love to Christ in the child-converts than the man-converts. I will even astonish you still more by saying that I have sometimes met with a deeper spiritual experience in the children of ten and twelve than I have in certain persons of fifty or sixty.” -Charles Spurgeon

my teaching Col 2 class

Class Col 2: 20-23

First, we’re gonna back up just a little so I can keep my section in context, as it belongs with Ralph’s passages from last week, so lets start by reading Col 2: 16-23, I’ll pray and we’ll get started.

2.16-17 – Paul warns the Colossae Church about trading our freedom in Christ for useless man-made legalistic rules. A historic Baptist example of this would be- the Bible teaches Drunkenness is a Sin, so don’t get drunk; however it would be my position and I think  the Bible’s position that you cannot install a rule over someone else that says they cannot drink (since drinking itself is not a sin) yet if you have a problem with alcohol yourself or if you are concerned about how drinking may reflect poorly against the Gospel you can restrict yourself from drinking.
I know alcohol can be a touchy subject does anyone want to chime in about that.

If your interested you can read up on the Wesleyan Methodist Dentist Thomas Welch (founder of Welch’s grape juice) and inventor of grape juice pasteurization it was because of him that churches switched from wine to grape juice in Communion and that wasn’t until about 1860.

Read Verses on Food

2.16 –We are no longer required to submit to OT dietary restrictions, to which I say praise Jesus and yeah Bacon! We are no longer required to celebrate festivals, which were annual religious feasts like the feast of Passover, Pentecost, Tabernacles (or Booths). We are no longer required to celebrate new moons, which were monthly sacrifices made on the first day of each new lunar cycle. Or Sabbaths, which were required weekly celebration of the 7th day (or Saturday). What you need to pick up on each of these is that whatever was in question “X” is no longer required it doesn’t mean you can’t go with a friend to a festival it just means since your Saved by Grace remember you’re Salvation is not attached to the your required fulfillment of these old legalistic rules.

2.17 – Shadows vs. substance – since the OT shadows have found their substance in Christ the shadows are no longer needed. A perfect example of this would be OT animal sacrifices – these are done away with since the once and for all sacrifice of Christ has appeased God’s wrath, and atoned for sin in a way that dumb animals never could.
I have thought about writing up a class on OT Messianic prophesies fulfilled in Jesus that fleshes out this Shadow vs. Substance idea if anyone is interested in that.

Read Christ once and for all

2.18 – Disqualify you, Paul warns the Colossae Church don’t follow false teachers, beware irrational mysticism and asceticism as this delights itself in self-abasement which God sees as Pride which God hates and beware the worship of angels – a practice that began around the region of Colossae and continued for several hundred years.

Read We cannot worship angels

Visions – like most cults and false religions, false teachers often base their religion on teaching their own visions and revelations which they say they received from God or angels or whatever (like Joseph Smith the founder of Mormonism his whole religion is based off of an Angelic visitation he said he had).

The vision or “angelic” encounter is always verified against the clear revelation that Christ brought and doctrines He taught first hand to the Apostles who continue to teach us through the eyewitness testimony of the Gospels and then are expounded on in the Epistles.
Here’s just a quick Apologetics for the reliability of the Gospels: they are the only documented eyewitness testimony from those who actually knew Jesus, listened to His teaching and saw the miracles He performed. Its not like there’s a Gospel of George out there from the 1st century where he says Oh, I knew Jesus we hanged out a lot, he was a nice guy but he wasn’t this miraculous Messiah the other Gospels make him out to be. First Matthew is the Apostle Matthew an eyewitness, 2nd Mark was not an eyewitness, but he was a disciple under both Paul and more important the right-hand man to Peter which is where he got all his info from, 3rd Luke chapter 1 states that he like a modern journalist interviewed the eyewitnesses and then chronicled their statements, 4th John was also an Apostle and an eyewitness. So for those who say that the Gospel’s are fiction made to make Jesus look like a god then I say great where’s the 1st century eyewitness testimony to the facts in question? Even the historic documents of the Jews and Romans would verify that Christ was at least some kind of bizarre miracle worker that they murdered, and whose followers said rose from the dead. Those that don’t trust in the creditability of the Gospels cannot because they are unregenerate.

2.19 – (parallels Col 1:18 & Eph 4:15-16) There is no spiritual growth for the body (that is the Church) apart from union with Christ (who is the head of the Church).

2.20 With Christ you died - refers to the believers union with Christ’s life, death and resurrection

2.21-23 And here is the focus for us today the Futility of asceticism – attempting to achieve holiness by rigorous self-neglect, self-denial, and even violent self-affliction. Asceticism cannot redeem past sins, cannot prevent us from committing current sins or draw us out of our sin and toward God (as only Christ is the mediator between God and men, not us and our rigorous self-righteousness). Ascetics often only put on a show of their own supposed holiness.
@@@
So the last thing I want to do is leave you with this vague word “Asceticism” and not see how people and false religions are still lost in this even today.

So the rest of this meditation on Asceticism is based off a 2010 Christianity Today article.

You may remember Dan Brown’s bestselling book (or the movie with Tom Hanks) The DaVinci Code (I just watched it again this week) in which a deranged albino monk flogs himself and wears a cilice (sill-ese). If you don’t’ have a Catholic background you may be asking, what is a cilice? It’s a strap secured around the thigh with either buckles or thongs that inflicts pain via inward pointing spikes. The tighter you wore it the deeper the spikes would penetrate your flesh. This stock photo I found basically looks like a small section of barbed wire fencing and a leather strap. If you’re like me, this may make you wonder what was Dan Brown’s inspiration for his masochistic monk.

stock photo of a cilise

Creepy right? Well it may surprise you that Mother Theresa also wore a cilice. And according to Monsignor Oder, the man who is presenting John Paul II’s case for Sainthood says that the Pope both in the Vatican and when he was back in Poland would frequently whip himself with a special trousers belt that he kept among his other Vestments in his wardrobe and he would mess up his bedding at night but then sleep on the cold, bare floor. One of the Polish nuns, Sister Sobodka, who worked for him both in the Vatican and at his Papal summer residence at Castel Gandolfo in Southern Rome said that from the next room you could hear him whipping himself and the cries of pain.

Oder explains that they believed these self-abasing acts helped them seek moral perfection in this life. And here is where this relates to us in this class, the Pope himself would appeal to Colossians 1:24 where the Apostle says, “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,” that passage is not only taken out of context but it isn’t even the complete sentence.

The suffering Paul endured for the sake of the Gospel in his Apostolic ministry did unite him to both other suffering Christians and Christ Himself, who suffered untold anguish on the Cross. Yet for all the hardships Paul bore, he never intentionally harmed himself in the pursuit of this union. According to a Sovereign God, suffering found Paul, and he even pleaded unsuccessfully with God to relent his sufferings (2 Corinthians 12: 7-10) yet God allowed this suffering in order that He might demonstrate His power through Paul’s weakness.

So why are these Heroes of the Roman Catholic religion harming themselves? Well in a 2002 sermon John Paul II preached about being conformed to the Cross of Christ by (this is a quote) “collaborating in Christ’s Redemption through pain.” Not only is it blasphemy to pretend that you (a sinner) can assist Christ in His work of Redemption but it also rejects clear teachings of Scripture like Heb 10 that we read which says, “And by that (Christ’s perfect obedience and sacrifice) we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.” There is no room in Christianity for you to lend God a hand in Salvation.

Now I’m not telling you this to say look how ugly the Roman Church is, I’m saying it because these people are hurting themselves to look pious and help God save them. That’s perverse. But what they really need is to hear is the Gospel, the external announcement that all the work needed to accomplish Salvation was done by Christ for them not by them. Mother Theresa needed to hear Isaiah 53 that Christ was pierced for her transgressions, he was bruised for her iniquities, it was his suffering that heals us, not our own. And John Paul needed to be told that Christ was whipped for him, that Jesus already took that flogging and pain and suffering and that the NT says we are not saved by these pious works done by us in righteousness but by His Mercy and His Grace won for us by His suffering and completed work on the Cross. To reject the sufficiency of Christ’s external work done for you and your salvation and instead to trust in some attempt to work alongside Christ (in tandem) to Co-Redeem or Co-Save yourself is an outright rejection of the Christian Gospel.

We’ll wrap up with this, lets listen to just a couple Gospel excepts from the NT:

Read Gospel passages

Application - That was John 1, Romans 9, Eph 2 and Titus 3. Its not by our works that we are saved its by the completed work done by Christ. We must insist on that despite trials, temptations or even persecution within American churches, just as the Apostles did back in the Early Church.

Col 2 Class- supporting verses

Verses on Food -
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. (Romans 14:17-18 ESV)

Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. (1 Corinthians 8:8 ESV)

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.
(1 Timothy 4:1-5 ESV)

Christ once and for all –
For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said,
“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired,
                        but a body have you prepared for me;
in burnt offerings and sin offerings
                        you have taken no pleasure.
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,
as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’”
When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the Law), then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (Hebrews 10:1-10 ESV)

We cannot worship angels -
And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.”
(Revelation 19:9-10 ESV)

I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”
(Revelation 22:8-9 ESV)

Gospel passages -
But to all who did receive Jesus, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For God saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Heresy Barbie AKA Victora Osteen

Heresy Barbie has a book now only $6 on Amazon Love Your Life: living happy, health and whole.
Victoria bills herself as the Co-Pastor of Lakewood Church - Someone give her a Bible please - according to God the Holy Spirit in 1 Timothy here are the qualifications of an Elder/Overseer/Pastor:

The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task.
Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.  (1 Timothy 3:1-7)

Unless Victoria has a penis and Joel a vag. then she is not only not a Pastor but in outright rebellion against the God of the Bible and His Word. In the words of John MacArthur, if your church has a woman pastor then you have no pastor and your not a church. Period!

That's just the intro to the real point of the blog post...

If the God-Hating Morons that organize most Bible studies (Men's and Women's) would actually open a Bible! and teach from it instead of buying the books of popular "Christian" celebrities then you may happen upon this little section FROM GOD IN THE FLESH - JESUS CHRIST!

And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. (John 12:23-26 ESV)

So if you do not want Eternal life please go ahead and waste $6 hard-earned dollars learning life-tips from a God-Hating blasphemer like Heresy Barbie, Love Your Life on sale everywhere people don't read their Bibles!

But if you want Eternal life listen to the only One who can gift it to you. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

PS- please stop buying books from Heretics, I'm totally worn out warning people about how much its going to suck burning in Hell forever. Repent and Trust in Him (Christ) not her (Victoria).
