Rick Warren Takes Swipe at Cross-Centered Hermeneutic
“And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke 24:25–27)
“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.” (John 5:39–40)
The Apostle Paul, also understood that all of scripture is about Christ and the Cross. Here's what Paul wrote:
“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” (1 Corinthians 2:2)
We also find it very telling that Rick Warren has publicly critiqued those faithful pastors who preach Christ and the Cross from every passage of scripture but he hasn't said ONE WORD in criticism of his disciples like Steven Furtick, Perry Noble and others who, Sunday after Sunday, read THEMSELVES into every passage of scripture, including the Gospels. Click Here to hear an egregious example of this from the Code Orange Revival.
After listening to that "revival sermon" read this: “we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake” (2 Corinthians 4:5)
