Abortion!

For the fetus, though enclosed in the womb of its mother, is already a human being, and it is a monstrous crime to rob it of the life which it has not yet begun to enjoy. If it seems more horrible to kill a man in his own house than in a field, because a man’s house is his place of most secure refuge, it ought surely to be deemed more atrocious to destroy a fetus in the womb before it has come to light.

John Calvin
Commentary, Exodus 21:22.

The “leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees”

Let us remember, that we live in a world where Pharisaism and Sadduceeism are continually striving for the mastery in the Church of Christ. Some want to add to the Gospel, and some want to take away from it. Some would bury it, and some would pare it down to nothing. Some would stifle it by heaping on additions, and some would bleed it to death by subtraction from its truths. Both parties agree only in one respect. Both would kill and destroy the life of Christianity, if they succeeded in having their own way. Against both errors let us watch and pray, and stand upon our guard. Let us not add to the Gospel, to please the Roman Catholic Pharisee. Let us not subtract from the Gospel, to please the Neologian Sadducee. Let our principle be “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,” nothing added to it, and nothing taken away.

Psalm 84:10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
There are certain events that are so wonderful and memorable (or at time tragic) that we dedicate one day every year to remembering them. There are historical figures who are likewise deemed worthy of annual remembrance with a national holiday (individually or collectively). In our own homes we ‘memorialize’ certain great events–the anniversary of mom and dad and the birthdays of our children. But there is only one event in all of human history that has been deemed worthy of remembrance every single week. That event is the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. In honor of that event God has given His Son one day in seven to serve as a distinct memorial, separate and distinct from all other days. The Lord’s Day has been regarded in the past by such honored titles as the “Queen of Days” and the “Market Place of the Soul”. The average Christian in our day, however, seems to be more of the spirit expressed in Amos 8:5 “When will the New Moon be past, That we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, That we may trade wheat?”
Some years ago a man who had attended our church announced to me that he thought it was legalistic to have and to ‘require’ an evening service. I said to him, “Well, let me tell you what we will be doing Sunday night. We will gather together with the saints, who are the excellent one in the earth in whom is all my delight (Psalm 16:3). We will gather as living stones to form a spiritual temple in which the Spirit of God will come and inhabit. We will have the words of the living God read and expounded to our needy hearts. We will sing songs and hymns and spiritual songs. We will have our hearts and our minds lifted toward heaven and be reminded of that eternal Sabbath Day.”
I then asked a simple question, “Are your plans for the day better than that?” I am not saying that the Bible commands an evening worship service, but when one is available and those dynamics are in play–what is better?

J.L. Dagg quote

It should fill us with joy, that infinite wisdom guides the affairs of the world. Many of its events are shrouded in darkness and mystery, and inextricable confusion sometimes seems to reign. Often wickedness prevails, and God seems to have forgotten the creatures that he has made. Our own path through life is dark and devious, and beset with difficulties and dangers. How full of consolation is the doctrine, that infinite wisdom directs every event, brings order out of confusion, and light out of darkness, and, to those who love God, causes all things, whatever be their present aspect and apparent tendency, to work together for good.

God the Father...

God the Father...doesn't have a vagina, sorry William Young author of the Shack. Bowing down (or Submission to) Aunt Jamima (AKA Papa from the Shack) is idolatry which will send you to Hell.

 For more than 6000 years of Christian Theology, God has chosen to describe Himself as a Male, not only that but the God-Man, God+flesh =Jesus Christ has a dong and as He grew as a Man, He still had a dong and when He was crucified for our sins he had a dong, and when He rose from the dead He didn't have a Ken-doll surgery, He still had a dong, and when He rose into Heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father for all Eternity - He still has a dong.

Repent of the idol you have created for yourself, William Young, repent for the Millions you are leading to Hell, repent for the sermon you gave blaming God's inerrant-inspiration for the blasphemous content of your book before its too late. Trust not in forming your own god (not of wood or gold but of anti-Biblical theology and culturally-sensitive philosophy) and holding that god up for all the world to admire. Trust alone (Sola) in Christ (Christus) and in His work alone for your Salvation.

For the most Vile & Torturous parts of Hell are not reserved for Fascist Dictators or Republican political pundits, its not for Child-rapists or KKK members, its not for Nazis and Marxists, its reserved for false teachers, those who lead God's people astray into false religions. And friend I earnestly fear for the fate of your soul.

But you're not dead yet and the "Good News" is Christ died for idol-crafting, idol-worshipers just like you.

    And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn Son and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. (Luke 2:4-7 ESV)

sermon titles: updated

A question I often get from Christians is RB (that's Reformed Baptist) I've never been to a post-modern Satan-worshiping Emergent cohort, what kind of sermons can I expect?

Or a question I often get from Emergents is RB (that's Reformed Baptist) I've never been to a Biblically faithful, God-honoring, Gospel-focused Church, what kind of sermons can I expect?

@@@
So here are the answers according to both the Emergency Cohort and Calvary Baptist of Lenexa.

At the Emergency Cohort (AKA the Emmaus Way)- our current Sermon Series is a pop-psychology, philosophical deconstructionist, self-help group-therapy conversation based off the post-modern children's book The 3 little wolves and the big, bad pig.This will be very helpful in teaching you how to complain that all the problems in your life are someone else's fault.

Its funny, I listened to Pastor (AKA group-therepy conversation facilitator) Tim Conder (Pastor of Conversation & Care) who said that he would be willing to suffer himself for the gospel (however he defines that) but he didn't want his kids to believe the gospel too strongly as the gospel expects too much from you. He said he'd rather them grow up and get established first (like 40 yrs old) after college, after getting a good job/career going, maybe starting a family before they should really start believing the gospel. - Well I hope Tim Condor's kids make it to 40, before they're allowed to become Christians because if they die prior to God granting them Faith and Repentance - Hell is Hot and Forever is a Long Time. Feel free to find the Emergent Sermon-time group-therapy conversation for the 3 little wolves and the big bad pig for the Worst Sermon of all time.

Or email Tim direct at tim@emmausway.net for his thoughts on how being a moral, loving Hippy-wolf hugging an emotionally challenged angry pig is now the post-modern definition of the Gospel. Flower Power, people! Flower Power!

or at Calvary Baptist of Lenexa - our current Sermon Series is an expositional, verse-by-verse review of the OT book of Habakkuk. Which is great, because its God's explanation on why bad things happen to people who think they they are "good people". It answers relevant topics like what to do when it seems like God's not listening to your prayers, and why does God not do something about the evil in the World today?

example of Scripture twisting techniques

I often hear seeker-driven, purpose-driven Bible rapists
abusing the Word of God. So as an example of their Scripture-twisting
techniques which string out of context passages together to teach false doctrine.
I have provided this quick discernment post on how to recognize the mis-use
the Bible to teach non-biblical doctrines.

Satire Sermon Title- Don't be a tree-huger be a tree-hater, like God
Read Isaiah, 2 Kings, Galatians, Deuteronomy & Joshua - that's 5 times
more Biblical passages than a normal Rick Warren sermon.

   So he [Elisha] went with them. And when they came to the Jordan,
they cut down trees.
(2 Kings 6:4)

See in the OT Elisha and the prophets hated trees and cut them down.

    For the LORD of hosts has a day
        against all that is proud and lofty,
        against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low;
    against all the cedars of Lebanon,
        lofty and lifted up;
        and against all the oaks of Bashan;
(Isaiah 2:12-13)

See even God himself hates trees of all kinds not just Cedars but even Oaks and the Bible is full of His wrath against them; Do what God would do: Cut them, Cut them all, Cut them all down!

    For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—
(Galatians 3:13)

 You shall not defile your land that the LORD your God is giving you for an inheritance. Therefore, the body shall not remain all night hanging on the tree, ... for a hanged man is cursed by God.
(Deuteronomy 21:22-23)

    And [God's Judgement on His enemy was done through] Joshua who hanged the king of Ai on a tree until evening. And at sunset Joshua commanded, and they took his body down from the tree and threw it at the entrance of the gate of the city and raised over it a great heap of stones, which stands there to this day.
(Joshua 8:29)

Not only does God hate trees but the OT and the NT teaches that He also hates everyone who plays in trees - so climbing trees and tree houses are Anathema!

Application:
If you really wanna piss off God, keep on sinning - climbing trees, running around trees, planting trees, and building tree-houses to play in.

Remember: Sin + trees = Eternal damnation!
