Lutheran Mistakes!

So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
(John 10:7 ESV)

I am the door. (John 10:9 ESV)

Is God a piece of Wood? No! It's symbolism! Christ is our access point to God the Father as in...     Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 ESV).

But the Lutheran has to say Yes God is a piece of Wood why because of their literal inability to receive a Metaphor.

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
(John 10:11 ESV)

Wait! I thought Jesus was God, why does he have to get a part time job as a day-laborer. I mean really doesn't God have more important things to do that shepherd sheep? Wake up, it's a Metaphor! He is like a shepherd, who is the best kind of shepherd, one willing to die for his "sheep"(oops more symbolism!) we are those sheep.

So what about ...
Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
(Matthew 26:26-28 ESV)

Oh no!
A Lutheran cannot be a Lutheran if they recognize a Metaphor, therefore they have to pretend (like Roman Catholics) that Jesus is a moist piece of toast and his "bread" body and his "wine" blood are Cannibalized and Vampire-ized at the Alter. Instead of "REMEMBERED" at the Table... And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
(Luke 22:19 ESV)

Christians eat Bread and drink Wine in Remembrance of Christ and His sacrifice just like he told us to. We Don't eat FLESH and drink BLOOD the way MONSTERS and PAGANS do.

No this isn't a real Vampire (its fake)

But yes this is a real Cannibal eating a human!

Protestants love Rev Fisk!

Rev Fisk channel on YouTube!

If you are young & theological you should be watching Reverend Jonathan Fisk's YouTube Channel
(*warning he is Confessional Lutheran so you will hear him assert Confessional Lutheranism on his show) - but that's what he should be doing.

I only wish I had the technical and theological "chops" to do the same thing for young Confessional Baptists, Fisk is doing for Lutheranism

Was Jesus Merely a Great Moral Teacher?

Was Jesus Merely a Great Moral Teacher?

There are many today who prefer to place Jesus Christ in a category with other "great religious leaders" such as Buddha, Mohammed, etc.  Their attitude is that there have been many great religious leaders, including Jesus, who have been helpful to the human race by encouraging good morals, etc. But they would believe that these men were, after all, mere men.
Perhaps you would prefer to believe that Jesus was a great religious leader, but certainly not God Himself. If so, the following excerpt from C.S. Lewis's book, Mere Christianity, should help dispel that notion. These words are worth some serious meditation!

"Yet (and this is the strange, significant thing) even His enemies, when they read the Gospels, do not usually get the impression of silliness and conceit. Still less do unprejudiced readers. Christ says that He is 'humble and meek' and we believe Him; not noticing that, if He were merely a man, humility and meekness are the very last characteristics we could attribute to some of His sayings.
"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God.' That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic--on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg--or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to."

Women Bishops, in God's church? Nope.

Christianity Today - Gleanings: important developments in the church and the world,"

Women Bishops Blocked—Barely—by Lay Leaders Despite Clergy Support

Church of England unable to muster two-thirds vote despite support of Rowan Williams and Justin Welby.
Today, conservative lay leaders in the Church of England narrowly succeeded (by a six-vote margin) in defeating a historic measure that would have allowed women clergy to serve as bishops.
A majority (132-74) voted in favor of women bishops but failed to reach the two-thirds vote required in the House of Laity in the General Synod of the Church of England. The synod's other two bodies—the House of Clergy (148-45) and the House of Bishops (44-3)—voted by a sufficient margin to approve women as bishops. (Women are already permitted to serve as priests.) Approval in all three houses is required by canon law.
The matter may not come to another vote for five years. Some who opposed the measure were looking for much stronger language—a conscience clause—protecting those churches, bishops, clergy, and lay leaders who do not approve of women as bishops, based on their biblical and theological convictions.
The BBC reported:
The Rev Rachel Weir, chairwoman of Watch [an advocacy group], said, "This is a tragic day for the Church of England after so many years of debate and after all our attempts at compromise. Despite this disappointing setback, Watch will continue to campaign for the full acceptance of women's gifts of leadership in the Church's life." Watch said bishops would need to act promptly to offer pastoral support in the coming weeks to women clergy and others who felt devastated by decision. But synod member Susie Leafe said the outcome was because of faults in the legislation. She said: "There were a lot of places along the way that we could have had a measure in front of us that wouldn't have been voted down, and it's very sad that this was able to go on without us facing the reality of the situation."
The Catholic Group in General Synod said "mediation and conciliation are needed so that new legislation can be framed to provide fairly for all members of the Church of England".
Both the retiring Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and his new replacement, Justin Welby, favored approval of women as bishops. Welby is widely considered to be from the evangelical wing of the church. The vote took place at Church House in central London.
Church of England bishops will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 21, to evaluate their next steps.

And now my paper for School regarding the article:

While this post from Christianity Today appears to be a simple highlight from a vote within the Anglican denomination it reveals a much wider spread of apostasy throughout the Western Church. In America today, much like in England throughout the last century, many God-hating idol-worshipers continue to label themselves “Christians” despite the obvious fact that they have rejected the God revealed to us in Scripture. Instead of telling you my personal “opinion” about this issue, as my opinion would be irrelevant, Christian leaders are required by God to “peach/teach the Word”. Reference: (2 Timothy 4:1-2). So we will look at God the Holy Spirit’s requirement for women in the local church and also God the Holy Spirit’s qualification for elders, overseers, pastors, shepherds, presbyters, priests and bishops. Reference: (2 Timothy 3:16). This is a vitally important reference to connect, since it’s not my word that is inerrant but God’s Word that is inerrant. And it’s to this God’s opinion, not mine, that Christians are required to be obedient.

Women in the local church: Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control. (1 Timothy 2:9-15 ESV)
Qualifications for an Overseer/Elder: The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. (1 Timothy 3:1-7 ESV)
And again Qualifications for and Elder/Overseer: This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you—if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. (Titus 1:5-9 ESV)

What you need to realize is that this isn’t an issue of Christianity vs. worldly egalitarianism. This is an issue on the authority of God’s Word over God’s people. Can women be disciples? Yes, the Bible references women disciples. Can women be deacons? Yes, Church History lists woman deaconesses. Were there women Apostles? No. Women elders? No. Women pastors? No. Women bishops? No. Women overseers? No. Women presbyters? No. Why? Because the official biblical requirement for the office begins with “Male” and adds “He” must be married to a (or 1) woman. Women therefore are, by definition, disqualified from that office. The good news is Christ died for the sin of violating (or supporting the violation) of this law of God. And God is gracious, and if theses sinners are not yet dead then God has granted time for them to repent of this crime done against His Word and trust in Christ’s substitutionary atonement for this sin.

Powerful stuff, Pira proves Godless church growth idolotry wrong.

New Pira Survey Reveals Real Reasons the Unchurched Don't Attend Church

INDIANAPOLIS - A newly released Pira Survey of the Biblical texts reveals the real reasons why the unchurched do not attend church and the results are sending shockwaves through the seeker-driven and missional camps.
Chris Rosebrough, lead researcher for Pira, the organization responsible for this Biblical survey said, "For decades the conventional wisdom in the broader church growth and missional movements has told us that the reason why unchurched people don't attend church is because they think church is boring and irrelevant. Although true, the conventional wisdom has not been able to satisfactorily explain why unchurched people feel that way. Our survey, of the Biblical texts, strove to dig down and uncover the real reasons why our pagan non-Christian friends and neighbors feel that way about church. What we discovered was shocking and its implications regarding the newly adopted church methodologies in seeker-driven churches will challenge the core assumptions of the entire church growth industry!"
The Pira Survey reveals that non-Christians, contrary to the assumptions of church growth consultants, are not basically good people who would love to attend church and worship God if only their pop-culture tastes and preferences were employed in church. Instead, the survey reveals that the unchurched abhor and hate God, they're born dead in trespasses and sins, they do not seek God, they love their darkness and sin and hate the light, and their continual intentions and thoughts are only evil. Please consult the chart below.

Said Rosebrough, "The results of this Biblical survey make it undeniably clear that the only way you could make church 'relevant' to a non-Christian would be to give them what they want i.e. sin, idolatry, false doctrine, fleshly delights, and worldly entertainment. But when you bring those things into the church then your church ceases to be a church and just becomes a popular entertainment venue with a thin Christian-ish veneer. And, since unbelievers hate God, they'll leave as soon as you try to confront them with their sins or try to make Jesus and Him crucified the true center of the church service. The reason for this is that the unchurched don't want to have anything to do with the One True God. They hate Him and the cross is foolishness to them! I guess that's why regeneration is so important. Because if you haven't been born again then there is no way you're going to think that church is relevant."

The raw data for this survey is reproduced below.

Genesis 2:15–17 “The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.””
Genesis 3:6 “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.”
Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned”
Romans 5:19 “for as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners
Genesis 6:5 “The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Genesis 8:21 “the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth”
Psalms 51:5 “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.”
John 3:19 “And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.”
Ephesians 2:1–3 “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind”
Psalms 14:2–3 “The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God...They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.”
Romans 3:10–18 “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.” “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; in their paths are ruin and misery, and the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.””
Isaiah 59:2 “but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.”
Exodus 33:20 “But,” he [the LORD] said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.””
John 1:10 “He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.”
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”
Matthew 15:18–19 [Jesus said] “what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.”
Ephesians 4:18 “They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.”
Matthew 7:11 [Jesus said] “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”
John 8:44 [Jesus said] “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Colossians 2:13 “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh”
Colossians 1:21 “And you, who once were alienated [from God] and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds,”
Ephesians 2:12 “remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world”
Romans 8:7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.”

What are Patristics, and why should we study them?

Patristics, is a branch of theological study of the most prominent writings of the pastors and theologians of the Church from the end of the Apostolic period until the beginning of the Medieval period. The time span of the Patristic period is generally considered to be about AD 100 (after the death of John, the last living apostle) until about AD 604 (when Gregory the Great died after serving in the the bishopric of Rome, in a life of ministry that tended to lock into place the basic elements of the Medieval Church, including the consolidation of ecclesiastical power in the church of Rome, and the ascendancy of the Roman bishop, who would come to be called the “pope”).
The Patristics are usually divided into the “Ante-Nicene Fathers,” that is, those who lived and wrote before the Council of Nicaea in AD 325, and the “Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers,” that is, those who lived and wrote during and after the time of the Nicene Council. Another common classification is the Greek Fathers, who generally lived in the East and wrote in Greek, and the Latin Fathers, who lived in the West and wrote in Latin. Some of the earliest influential Fathers include Clement of Rome (a contemporary of the apostles), Polycarp (a disciple of John), Justin Martyr (early second century), and Irenaeus (late second century). Some of the most influential Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers include Theodoret, Jerome, Athanasius, Basil, and Ambrose. The two most outstanding (or influential) of them all, though, are doubtless the Latin father Augustine of Hippo ( AD 354 – 430) and the Greek father John Chrysostom (AD 347 – 407). The canons of the seven ecumenical councils are also important reading for the Patristic period.

There are several reasons that it is important to study the Patristics: first, their theological and scriptural insights are very valuable in their own right. The Patristics lived much closer to the days of the apostles than we do, and they were forced to crystallize the apostolic teaching in response to the influx of various heresies and errors. Their formulation of trinitarian and christological doctrine was eminently biblical and foundational for true Christianity, and their homilies, apologetical and homiletical writings, and so on, contain innumerable valuable insights. Second, studying the Patristics gives us a much clearer understanding of the history of the Church, and acquaints us with how the ragamuffin band of apostles and the outnumbered and persecuted churches they started grew up into the Christianity that we recognize today. This acquaintance with Church history gives us a sense of continuity with the beginnings of Christ's gospel accomplishment, and firmly tethers us to the community of saints worldwide and throughout the ages. Third, it is important to know what the Patristics say simply because, virtually every branch of professing Christendom respects them and wants to employ their writings in support of their own teachings. Eastern Orthodoxy, Catholicism, and most of Protestant Christianity all claim some degree of continuity with the Church Fathers. Defending those claims of continuity by an appeal to the actual writings of the Patristics is, therefore, a very valuable apologetic strategy. One very successful example of this kind of apologetic was Calvin's Bondage and Liberation of the Will, where he expertly quotes the Scripture together with the early church fathers to refute the Roman Catholic view of grace and free will.

Melito of Sardis 190 AD

Destroying the violent ignorance done to Christianity by Dan Brown's Mythology -
the Da Vinci Code

1 - the early Christian Church overwhelmingly favored the Nicene Creed (not narrowly adopted it)

2 - the 1st-3rd century churches had a very high christology where Jesus Christ was worshiped as God (it wasn't just decided to elevate him to godhood at Nicaea)

Melito of Sardis a 2nd Century preacher - contemporaries regarded Melito as having lived a life remarkable for its spirituality, from his Homily on the Passion Melito talks about Israel's failure to recognize Christ for who he is, it says:

You did not see God.
You did not perceive the Lord, Israel,
You did not recognize the first-born of God,
Begotten before the morning star,
Who adorned the light,
Who lit up the day,
Who divided the darkness,
Who fixed the first boundary,
Who hung the earth,
Who tamed the abyss,
Who stretched out the firmament,
Who furnished the world,
Who arranged the stars in the heavens,
Who lit up the great lights,
Who made the angels in heaven,
Who there established thrones,
Who formed humanity on the earth.

He who hung the earth is hanging.
He who fixed the heavens in place has been fixed in place.
He who laid the foundation of the universe has been laid on a tree.
The Master has been profaned.
God has been murdered.

"Scholars who study the history of Christianity will find it bizarre, at best, to hear Brown claim that Christians before the Council of Nicaea did not consider Jesus to be divine."

Bart D Ehrman 2004

The Patristic Age

Influential Church Fathers between 1st & 8th Century comprise the "Patristic Age". These early authors, "defended the Gospel against heresies and misunderstandings; they composed extensive commentaries on the Bible, explanatory, doctrinal, and practical, and published innumerable sermons, largely on the same subject; they exhibited the meaning and implications of the Creeds; they recorded past and current events in Church history; and they related the Christian faith to the best thought of their own age." (Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church,1997)

4 characteristics that denote meriting title of church father:
1- Orthodox doctrine
2 - acceptance by the church as an important link in the transmission of the Faith
3 - holiness of life
4 - and living between the Apostolic era (100 AD) and either the death of John of Damascus in the East and Isidore of Seville in the West.

Mega-church downsizes, cuts non-essential members

WINSTON-SALEM — Julie and Bob Clark were stunned to receive a letter from their church in July asking them to “participate in the life of the church” — or worship elsewhere.
“They basically called us freeloaders,” says Julie.
“We were freeloaders,” says Bob.
In a trend that may signal rough times for wallflower Christians, bellwether mega-church Faith Community of Winston-Salem has asked “non-participating members” to stop attending.
“No more Mr. Nice Church,” says the executive pastor, newly hired from Cingular Wireless. “Bigger is not always better. Providing free services indefinitely to complacent Christians is not our mission.”
“Freeloading” Christians were straining the church’s nursery and facility resources and harming the church’s ability to reach the lost, says the pastor.
“When your bottom line is saving souls, you get impatient with people who interfere with that goal,” he says.
Faith Community sent polite but firm letters to families who attend church services and “freebie events” but never volunteer, never tithe and do not belong to a small group or other ministry. The church estimates that of its 8,000 regular attendees, only half have volunteered in the past 3 years, and a third have never given to the church.
“Before now, we made people feel comfortable and welcome, and tried to coax them to give a little something in return,” says a staff member. “That’s changed. We’re done being the community nanny.”
Surprisingly, the move to dis-invite people has drawn positive response from men in the community who like the idea of an in-your-face church.
“I thought, ‘A church that doesn’t allow wussies — that rocks,’” says Bob Clark, who admires the church more since they told him to get lost.
He and Julie are now tithing and volunteering. “We’ve taken our place in church life,” he says. •

Ministry changes name to Campus Jihad for Christ

ORLANDO — In an effort to broaden their international appeal, Campus Crusade for Christ, the venerable evangelism organization founded by Bill and Vonette Bright 52 years ago, has changed its name to Campus Jihad for Christ.
“When the ministry started in 1951, ‘crusade’ was a bold, evocative word,” says Campus Jihad spokesman Tony Ulkes. “Now it has negative overtones and kind of a fifteenth-century ring to it, particularly in Europe and the Middle East, where we’re expanding. But ‘jihad’ is considered by young people to be new and fresh, and it means virtually the same thing as ‘crusade’. So we’re changing with the times.”
But some observers call the change a sure way to alienate their core constituency.
“This is a grave miscalculation,” says church history professor Timothy Wilds of the University of Florida, Miami. “I’m not sure they’ll win any more converts, and it’s quite possible they’ll anger a lot of long-time supporters.”
The impetus for the change came as the ministry found it increasingly difficult to set up debates with Muslim groups on university campuses because of the ‘crusade’ moniker. And students recently introduced to the ministry often assumed it was started after September 11, 2001, in response to terrorism.
The name changes will flow down the employee chart. Campus ministers will now be called campus mujahideen, or holy warriors. Regional directors will be known as fedayeen Christ. Fedayeen means “one who sacrifices himself for a cause” in Arabic.
“With no disrespect meant to Mohammed, we’d like students to join the true jihad — the jihad of Christ,” says Ulkes.
The change will also solve a small but consistent problem: the inevitable handful of students who joined the group thinking it was the Society for Creative Anachronism, a medievalist group which holds fairs and festivals in the spirit of Olde England.
“We’re all happy to be rid of the ‘crusade’ label,” says Ulkes. “This is a new day for us.” •

I don't like when pastors say incorrectly, "The Bible says...", cause it doesn't.

What they should say is either co-author of the book, "Friend of Christ & God's chosen Apostle John says in John chapter 6..." or the other, "God the Holy Spirit says in 2nd Timothy...".

When I get a letter from my grandma I don't say, "The letter says in paragraph #2 blah, blah, blah."
I say, "Hey look grandma says, whatever."

Its inaccurate misuse of the term Bible and gives a false impression of how the Bible is to be used by its reader.

Rediscovering the Church Fathers

My 1st Birthday present. My wife got me Michael A G Haykin's book

Rediscovering the Church Fathers - who the were and how they shaped the church

Listen to these opening quotes:
"There can be no healthy theology without a solid grounding in the Fathers." Edward T Oakes

"If I had my time over again, I would have studied Patristics (the Fathers) rather that [the] Reformation." Carl Trueman

There is probably no truer words from me on what is vitally needed in American Christianity than a clean unadulterated definition of the Gospel (being God's Work, not ours) and then Sunday School study of the most important Early Church letters.

So what are they: If I only had 5 weeks to teach on the Fathers

Mathetes letter to Diognetus
martyrdom of Polycarp

Ignatius of Antioch
& 2nd Clement

Most American sermons are MOTS sermons, not Christian sermons

Tullian Tchividjian|9:44 am CT 11-05-12
Moralism Vs. Jesus-Centered Preaching
Moralism Vs. Jesus-Centered Preaching avatar
A number of years ago, Kim and I were having dinner with Tim and Kathy Keller and Kathy said, “Most preaching these days is M.O.T.S. preaching.” Kim said, “What’s M.O.T.S. preaching?” Tim answered, “Moral of the Story preaching.” To read and preach the Bible as if it were fundamentally about us and what we should do is to miss the point of the Bible entirely.
Tim explains the difference between a moralistic reading of the Bible and a Jesus-Centered reading of the Bible:
We have said that you must preach the gospel every week-to edify and grow Christians and to convert non-Christians. But if that is the case, you cannot simply ‘instruct in Biblical principles.’ You have to ‘get to Jesus’ every week.
For example, look at the story of David and Goliath. What is the meaning of that narrative for us? Without reference to Christ, the story may be (usually is!) preached as: “The bigger they come, the harder they’ll fall, if you just go into your battles with faith in the Lord. You may not be real big and powerful in yourself, but with God on your side, you can overcome giants.” But as soon as we ask: “how is David foreshadowing the work of his greater Son”? We begin to see the same features of the story in a different light. The story is telling us that the Israelite’s can not go up against Goliath. They can’t do it. They need a substitute. When David goes in on their behalf, he is not a full-grown man, but a vulnerable and weak figure, a mere boy. He goes virtually as a sacrificial lamb. But God uses his apparent weakness as the means to destroy the giant, and David becomes Israel’s champion-redeemer, so that his victory will be imputed to them. They get all the fruit of having fought the battle themselves.
This is a fundamentally different meaning than the one that arises from the non-Christocentric reading.
There is, in the end, only two ways to read the Bible: is it basically about me or basically about Jesus? In other words, is it basically about what I must do, or basically about what he has done? If I read David and Goliath as basically giving me an example, then the story is really about me. I must summons up the faith and courage to fight the giants in my life. But if I read David and Goliath as basically showing me salvation through Jesus, then the story is really about him. Until I see that Jesus fought the real giants (sin, law, death) for me, I will never have the courage to be able to fight ordinary giants in life (suffering, disappointment, failure, criticism, hardship). For example how can I ever fight the “giant” of failure, unless I have a deep security that God will not abandon me? If I see David as my example, the story will never help me fight the failure/giant. But if I see David/Jesus as my substitute, whose victory is imputed to me, then I can stand before the failure/giant. As another example, how can I ever fight the “giant” of persecution or criticism? Unless I can see him forgiving me on the cross, I won’t be able to forgive others. Unless I see him as forgiving me for falling asleep on him (Matt.27:45) I won’t be able to stay awake for him.
In the Old Testament we are continually told that our good works are not enough, that God has made a provision. This provision is pointed to at every place in the Old Testament. We see it in the clothes God makes Adam and Eve in Genesis, to the promises made to Abraham and the patriarchs, to the Tabernacle and the whole sacrificial system, to the innumerable references to a Messiah, a suffering servant, and so on.
Therefore, to say that the Bible is about Christ is to say that the main theme of the Bible is, “Salvation is of the Lord” (Jonah 2:9).

Silly sinners JSmith was a heretic, why follow a heretic?

FOUNDER OF THE MORMON CHURCH JOSEPH SMITH SPEAKS…

History of the Church, 5:467
I wish the lawyer who says we have no powers in Nauvoo may be choked to death with his own words. Don’t employ lawyers, or pay them money for their knowledge, for I have learned that they don’t know anything. I know more than they all.
History of the Church, 6:78
I combat the error of the ages; I meet the violence of mobs; I cope with illegal proceedings from executive authority; I cut the gordian knot of powers; and I solve mathematical problems of universities, with truth – diamond truth; and God is my “right hand man.”
History of the Church, 6:308
…I am learned, and know more than all the world put together.
History of the Church, 6:319-320
God made Aaron to be the mouthpiece for the children of Israel, and He will make me to be a god to you in His stead, and the Elders to be mouth for me; and if you don’t like it, you must lump it.
History of the Church, 6:408
If they want a beardless boy to whip all the world, I will get on the top of a mountain and crow like a rooster; shall always beat them.
History of the Church, 6:408-409
Come on! ye persecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on the top at last. I have more to boast of than any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet.
One cannot help but wonder: How could a true prophet of God have said such things, when the Bible clearly says:
That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:31)

SO TRUE I SHED A TEAR FOR THE AMERICAN APOSTACY!

THE NEW EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN CREED

By Rob
I am a Christian
I’m just not obliged to acknowledge the founder

I love Jesus
But not enough to obey his teachings

His ways are not my ways
My ways are my ways

I believe in being salt of the earth
as long as that means “making the world a better place”

I believe in the Bible
but it isn’t factual

I believe God spoke to us in His Word
but personal revelation can trump his Word at any time

The Bible speaks words of truth to me
but those words can mean whatever I want

I believe in Heaven and Hell
but what kind of God would condemn you to hell?

Jesus said I will be outcast, set apart and persecuted
but I believe we should ignore our differences and unite by our similarities

I believe in equal rights for all people of all faiths, lifestyles and preferences
Just not for Bible-believing Christians who are the ones keeping the church from growing

God’s Son Jesus was beat, tortured, starved, stabbed, whipped and abused
but God has a wonderful plan for me to prosper and not harm me

I believe we have to be tolerant of everyone
except those who don’t believe what I believe

What I believe is what the church has always believed
at least that is what the emergents tell me

I’m Orthodox to the bone
but lack the spine to support it

Apostle Barack? Really!?

BARACK OBAMA AN APOSTLE LIKE JESUS CHRIST?

Apprising Ministries offers we should file this under: Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction. Sadly, this is not satire.
In Book compares Obama to Jesus Christ and Martin Luther King over at The Daily Caller Eric Owens offers:
Looking for something to read as Thanksgiving approaches? Or a unique take on what has made President Barack Obama such a successful politician? Or perhaps an explanation of Obama as an apostle and his “politics as religion?”
You could check out “The Gospel According to Apostle Barack” by Barbara Thompson (AuthorHouse 2012). The mouthful of the book’s subtitle is: “In Search of a More Perfect Political Union as Heaven Here on Earth.” (source)
Um, ooo-kay. The author of this book, released July 31st of this year, tells us at the Amazon page for her treatise:
Barack had worked tirelessly on behalf of the American people, especially those who elected him in 2008. His followers needed to re-elect him to a second term, so that he could continue to accomplish the promises he made, thus, realizing his vision of America as a more perfect political union or “heaven here on earth.” (source)
Well, he did win reelection; but I’m in agreement with pastor Tom Chantry’s take:
The reelection of President Obama demonstrates the wickedness of America… The reelection of President Obama demonstrates the stupidity of America… The reelection of President Obama demonstrates God’s judgment on America…
This election was a catastrophe; there is no reason to pretend otherwise.  Furthermore, it demonstrates the far deeper perils which threaten us. (source)
Now Barbara Thompson goes on and even claims direct revelation from God concerning her mission and for the direction of her book:
Then, as I began to contemplate ways to assist Barack in his 2012 re-election bid something miraculous happened. I felt God’s (His) Spirit beckoning me in my dreams at night. Listening, cautiously, I learned that Jesus walked the earth to create a more civilized society, Martin (Luther King) walked the earth to create a more justified society, but, Apostle Barack, the name he was called in my dreams, would walk the earth to create a more equalized society, for the middle class and working poor. (source)
Really; we’re supposed to to believe the Holy Spirit revealed to Thompson that two mere men are to be compared with Christ Jesus, the LORD God Almighty Himself in human flesh? No, I don’t think so. Neither of those men, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Barack Obama, even appear to be believers in Christ in the first place.
They’re certainly no Apostles. Unfortunately, Barbara Thompson has quite a forum for her foolish mythology. Apparently she is professor in the Department of Health and Physical Education for Florida A&M University with:
graduate degrees from Florida A&M University and Florida State University. She has been teaching for more than twenty-five years at the university level with experience in the areas of health, physical education and sport management.
She is a professor at Florida A&M University, a former assistant vice president for academic affairs, past president of her university’s chapter of United Faculty of Florida, a graduate of the National Education Association’s Emerging Leader Academy and a two-time recipient of the Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers Award. (source)
What Barbara Thompson isn’t, is someone we believe has heard anything from the one true and living God.

SO SAD I HAVE A FRIEND IN THE IHOP ASSOC. "IHOPE" SHE LEAVES.

IHOP UNIVERSITY STUDENT CONFESSES TO MURDER OF FORMER IHOP INTERN TO COVER SEXUAL ASSAULTS HERE IN THE KC AREA!

Spiritual darkness continues to grow and 1 Peter 4:17 judgments are being sent by Jesus to rain upon the visible Christian church. As apostasy increases Apprising Ministries warns that stories like this will be on the increase.
The story begins with Katie Ferrell and Jason M. Vaughn of Fox 4 KC and their report Many Questions Remain in Murder of Grandview Woman where we learn:
Police say that they have a confession, but still a lot of unanswered questions in the murder of Bethany Deaton of Grandview.
According to authorities, Deaton was found dead inside a van on October 30th at Longview Lake. Court documents say that a note was found with Deaton’s body that read, “My name is Bethany Deaton. I chose this evil thing. I did it because I wouldn’t be a real person and what is the point of living if it is too late for that? I wish I had chosen differently a long time ago. I knew it all and refused to listen. Maybe Jesus will still save me.”
Investigators say that pills were also found near Deaton’s body, but Deaton’s admitted killer, 23-year-old Micah Moore, it was all a cover-up to keep the 27-year-old woman quiet. In a statement to Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies, Moore said that he and Deaton were part of a “religious community” – led by Deaton’s husband, Tyler Deaton – in which the members had sex with each other.
According to court documents, witnesses told authorities that Tyler Deaton was viewed as a “Spiritual Leader” who had control over the members of the household. A witness also said that three days after Bethany Deaton’s body was found, Tyler Deaton told him that he had a dream in which he killed his wife by suffocating her.
Tyler Deaton has not been charged with any crimes in connection to his wife’s death. (source)
Then Joe Robertson of The Kansas City Star tells us in his story Woman was murdered to cover sexual assaults, authorities allege:
According to court documents, Moore met with a detective on Friday, 10 days after Deaton’s body was found, and said, “I killed her.” He said he had feared that Deaton was going to tell her therapist about assaults that had occurred over the previous few months.
The statement said Moore admitted that he was with Deaton at Longview Lake and that he “placed a bag over her head and held it there until her body shook.”
Moore and several witnesses whose names were redacted from court documents told investigators that they had been roommates with Bethany Deaton and her husband, Tyler Deaton, in the 7300 block of East 122nd Street. They described a household where Tyler Deaton served as the “spiritual leader” of a “community.”
One witness said he believed Tyler Deaton was attempting to make the witness a member of “their sexual group,” the detective’s statement said. (source)
Now today Gina Meeks of Charisma News is reporting in IHOPU Student Confesses to Murdering a Former Intern that the alleged killer Micah Moore is actually a “student at the International House of Prayer University.”
It also seems that his victim Bethany Deaton herself was “a former IHOPU intern.” According to Meeks:
Moore lived with Deaton, her husband and other men, county prosecutors said. According to a probable cause statement, Moore told a detective he and the other men in the home, including Deaton’s husband, had been drugging and sexually assaulting her for months…
Bethany Deaton attended a six-month internship at IHOPU in 2009. University President Allen Hood said some of the members of the group were enrolled there,… The university pledged to completely cooperate with law officials and said it is taking steps to minister to students. (source)
Ferrell and Vaughn also shared the text of IHOPU president Hood’s statement concerning Bethany Deaton’s murder with us in their previous report:
“The International House of Prayer University (IHOPU) faculty was saddened by the tragic death of Bethany Leidlein Deaton on October 30. Bethany had attended a 6-month internship at IHOPU in 2009 and went on to become a registered nurse working in a local hospital.
On November 10, we were shocked when the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office notified us that an IHOPU student by the name of Micah Moore, a man who knew Bethany since their college days in Texas, had been charged with her murder.
Since Bethany’s death it has come to light that over 5 years ago, both she and Mr. Moore joined an independent, close-knit, religious group in Georgetown, Texas. This religious group of fewer than 20 people was led by Tyler Deaton. They relocated to Kansas City over the last few years and operated under a veil of secrecy.
This group has always operated independently of the university and it is important to all of us that this group’s secrecy and disturbing religious practices are fully exposed.
Mr. Deaton led his religious group entirely independently from IHOPU, though he and some of his members were enrolled in our university.
We have been working closely with the local authorities in their ongoing investigation into Bethany’s death. We continue to fully assist all law enforcement agencies in their efforts to uncover the extent and specifics of this horrific crime.
We are currently taking all necessary steps to minister to our students and ensure their safety and well-being. As an educational institution built around the priority of prayer, we ask everyone to please join us in praying for Bethany’s family and friends and everyone affected by her tragic and untimely death.
Due to the ongoing police investigation we have no further comment at this time.”  (source)
Today in her piece Meicah Moore Makes First Court Appearance in ‘Religious Sex Community’ Murder Case Fox 4 KC‘s Sarah Clark brings us the latest in the video below where she informs us:
The admitted killer of 27-year-old Bethany Deaton made his first court appearance Tuesday morning. Micah Moore, 23, confessed to suffocating Deaton… Deaton’s family lives in Texas. Her father released a statement Monday about her death.
“We are deeply grieving the loss of our beautiful and innocent daughter. We are shocked and horrified by the information now coming forth. The betrayal, the subtle and increasing manipulation, and the brutal victimization which occurred is beyond tragic. We pray for the truth to be revealed. While it is important to understand how Bethany died, it is even more important to understand how she lived. Because of the ongoing investigation, we do not have any further comment at this time,” the statement read.
Moore has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $500,000 cash bond. (source)

Finally, in light of an interview I gave yesterday to Fox 4 KC reporter Katie Ferrell concerning my opinion that IHOP has become a dangerous cult-like organization I share the following IHOP is Dangerous. We’re told it’s Stephanie’s testimony and that:
Stephanie was a student/intern at the International House of Prayer for three and a half years before being ejected unless she was willing to go to a re-education camp in Canada. This is her own testimony with her own voice. It is like MANY that I have heard. You decide for yourself.
If you have a son or daughter that is thinking about going to IHOP, dear parent, you need to know that there is a chance you may never talk to them again. Students are being told by staff to “fast” from contact to parents that aren’t fully supportive of IHOP. I have heard this from multiple sources, including current staff.
Things are very wrong here. Please also read or listen to my free book “The Red Dragon” for a better understanding of the situation at IHOP. This endless dance will not bring lasting revival. There is a delusion here that is VERY dangerous!

Sunday School BF&M section III Man

What if I got up here today and said - girls genetically, inherently you are “scientifically” inferior to me because I’m a man and men are proven better and smarter than girls by nature? What if I said to my best friend hey Michael for the overall good of society I’m going to murder you because you’re black and are unworthy of life? What if I said to a Native American or Australian Aborigine I’m going to enslave you and this is what’s best for mankind and for the world? What if, instead of green technology and recycling, I recommended the genocide of entire people groups so that whites could have more natural resources? What kind of monster would you think I was?

Today we’re going to start by looking at the beliefs and teaching of Charles Darwin and how that differs with the BF&M doctrine of Man.

Darwin’s common ancestry of life theory really comes into its own when it is applied to human origins. While he scarcely mentions the topic in The Origin of Species, Darwin later wrote extensively about it in The Descent of Man. “My objective,” he explained, “is to show that there is no fundamental difference between man and the higher animals in their mental faculties” - even in morality and religion. According to Darwin, a dog’s tendency to imagine a hidden agency in things moved by the wind “would easily pass into the belief in the existence of one or more gods.” Like materialistic philosophers since ancient Greece, Darwin believed that human beings were nothing more than animals.

Darwin was pro-slavery and is commonly quoted by evolutionists denying that He would apply his theory to human beings. But in Origin of Species, he extrapolated laws of insect behavior for the benefit of all organic beings. Why beings? By his reasoning, all animals should be more commonly referred to as organisms or beings (not distinguishing between man and animals). For Darwin wrote, "[I]t is far more satisfactory to look at such natural instincts as... ants making slaves... not as being specially endowed or created instincts, but as small consequences of the one general law, leading to the advancement of all organic beings, namely: multiply, vary, and let the strongest live and the weakest die."

Originally entitled: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favored Races (that’s whites btw) in the Struggle for Life, if read by parents they might have gained some inkling of the inherent racism propagated by this controversial theorist. Had they actually read Origin, they likely would be shocked to learn that among Darwin's scientifically based proposals was the elimination of "the negro and Australian peoples," which he considered savage races whose continued survival was hindering the progress of actual civilization.

In his next book, The Descent of Man (1871), Darwin ranked races in terms of what he believed was their nearness and likeness to gorillas. Then he went on to propose the extermination of races he "scientifically" defined as inferior. If this were not done, he claimed, those races, with their much higher birthrates than "superior" races, would exhaust the natural resources needed for the survival of better people (white Europeans) and eventually dragging down all of actual civilization.

Darwin even argued that advanced societies should not waste time and money on caring for the mentally ill, or those with birth defects. To him, these unfit members of our species “ought not to survive”, as they violated Darwin’s Golden Rule: multiply, vary and eliminate the competition.

In later editions of Darwin's Origin of Species editors dropped the phrase "Favored Races" from the book's title. But consider this quote from another book by Darwin: "At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man (so whites) will almost certainly exterminate and then replace, throughout the world, the savage races (blacks and Aborigines). At the same time the anthropomorphous apes (part man/part apes), as Professor Schaaffhausen has remarked, will also no doubt be exterminated.” Darwin dreamed of a day when the present small gap between “the negro or Australian [aboriginal] and the gorilla” was widened to the gap from the Caucasian to the baboon, thinking that modern man in a desire to eliminate the human competition would eliminate all lesser versions of mankind and all of the higher versions of ape.
-Charles Darwin, The Descent of Man, p. 156.

Darwin on Women
"The chief distinction in the intellectual powers of the two sexes is shown by man's ability to attain to a higher eminence, in whatever he takes up, than can woman—whether requiring deep thought, reason, or imagination, or merely the use of the senses and hands. If two lists were made of the most eminent men and women in poetry, painting, sculpture, music (inclusive both of composition and performance), history, science, and philosophy, with half-a-dozen names under each subject, the two lists would not bear comparison. We may also infer then, from the law of the deviation from averages, so well illustrated by Dr. Galton, in his work on 'Hereditary Genius,' that if men are capable of a decided pre-eminence over women in so many subjects, then the average of mental powers in man must be above that of woman."
-Charles Darwin, The Descent of Man, p. 564.

This is what has replaced a Christian worldview in the Marketplace of ideas in America, Racist-Sexist-Naturalistic Macro-Evolution. And with the bases of Naturalistic Macro-Evolution being that there isn’t a God and that Nature is continuingly evolving upward and is just getting better and better, let’s read the BF&M’s doctrine on Man…

BF&M 2000 section III on Man (referring to Mankind not just dudes)

1 - Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image.

2 - He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation.

3 - The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God's creation.

4 - In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice.

5 - By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin.

6 - Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation.

7 - Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God.

8 - The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Quotes from leading evolutionary minds:

James Watson – Nobel Prize winning scientist and co-discoverer of the double helix structure of DNA strands, states that Charles Darwin will eventually be seen as a far more significant figure in human history & thought than Jesus Christ.

Richard Dawkins – said in the Wall Street Journal that evolution proves God never existed and if you meet someone who still claims to not believe in evolution that person is ignorant, stupid, insane or wicked!

Early Church Fathers on Abortion
Mathetes, A.D. 80 - 160
[Christians] marry, as do all. They beget children, but they do not destroy their offspring. (ch. 5)

Letter of Barnabas, A.D. 80 - 130
You shall not slay a child by procuring an abortion, nor shall you destroy it after it is born. (ch. 19)
[In the way of darkness] are people ... who are murderers of children and destroyers of the workmanship of God. (ch. 21)
Early Church Fathers on Creation:

Mathetes, AD 80-160
God has loved mankind. He made the world on his account. He made all the things that are, in it subject to Man. He gave him reason and understanding. To mankind alone God imparted the privilege of looking upwards to Himself [a reference to the fact that man alone is capable of relationship with God]. He formed Man after his own image. He sent Man His only-begotten Son, has promised Man a kingdom in heaven, and will give it to those who have loved Him. (ch. 10)
Augustine, c. A.D. 400
In the case of a narrative of events, the question arises as to whether everything must be taken according too a figurative sense only, or whether it must be expounded and defended also as a faithful record of what happened. No Christian will dare say that the narrative must not be taken in a figurative sense; but is it also literal? (The Literal Meaning of Genesis ch. 1, as found in Ancient Christian WritersDescription: http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=alitbitofeve-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0809103265, vol. 41)
