Popular Heretic and Gnostic lover, Elaine Pagels

In Elaine Pagels' book Beyond Belief on the heretical Gnostic gospel of Thomas which
says when one becomes knowledgeable about certain things they can work out their own Salvation, Salvation from within. This transcendent knowledge and self-salvation is the definition of the Gnostic Heresy.

She said that she thought that this Salvation from within-ism seemed so self-evidently True that she accepted it as her gospel.

Also, the Gospel of Thomas concludes with these words:
114 Simon Peter said to them, "Make Mary leave us, for females don't deserve life!"
2 Jesus said, "Look, I will guide her to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. 3For every female who makes herself male will enter the domain of Heaven."
Say what!  Orthodox Christians are accused of diminishing the value of women whereas the ancient gnostics allegedly worshipped them.  But here is one gnostic writing which has Jesus saying that women must become men before they can become living spirits or enter heaven!

Its funny that a female writer like Elaine Pagels would disparage women so terribly, by supporting a pulp-fiction trash-rag of the 2nd Century like the gospel of Thomas!

also and this has nothing to do with her Joke of a career in Gnostic scholarship, but doesn't she look like Dana Carvey from old school SNL but dressed like a woman!
